This keeps delicate ingredients from falling apart and helps the simmering liquid reach every part of the dish evenly.

It is made from spruce, a wood chosen because it does not easily pass its own scent onto food. The handle is joined using wood alone, without adhesives, nails, or screws, for a sturdy and reliable grip.

Beyond simmered dishes, it is also handy for pickling, as a lid for a cast iron pot, or to cover a bowl or colander.

Koyanagi Sangyo, founded in 1926 in Tsubame-Sanjo, Niigata, a region known for metalworking, makes original items that combine wood and metal, and this drop lid is made in Japan.

Also available in:

Koyanagi Sangyo Kifujin Wooden Drop Lid (Otoshibuta) 20cm

Specifications

Brand: Koyanagi Sangyo

Material: Natural spruce wood

Dimensions: 18.4 x 13.1 x 2.3 cm (7.2 x 5.2 x 0.9 in)

Weight: 140 g (4.9 oz / 0.31 lb)

Country of Origin: Japan

Shipping

Ships within 7 days.
