The lid rests directly on top of simmering ingredients in a pot, where it helps keep food from falling apart and lets the cooking liquid reach the ingredients more evenly for a better finished dish.

It is made from spruce, chosen because it does not easily pass its own scent onto food. The handle is joined using wood alone, without glue, nails, or screws, for a sturdy and reliable structure.

Besides simmered dishes, this drop lid is also handy for pickling, for use with an iron pot, or as a cover for a bowl or colander. It measures 200 x 200 x 35 mm (7.9 x 7.9 x 1.4 in) and weighs 156 g (5.5 oz / 0.34 lb).

Also available in:

Koyanagi Sangyo Kifujin Wooden Drop Lid (Otoshibuta) 18cm

Specifications

Brand: Koyanagi Sangyo

Material: Spruce (natural wood)

Dimensions: 200 x 200 x 35 mm (7.9 x 7.9 x 1.4 in)

Weight: 156 g (5.5 oz / 0.34 lb)

Country of Origin: Japan

Shipping

Ships within 7 days.
