This teapot is made of clear copolyester resin (a saturated polyester resin) instead of glass, so it is lightweight, heat resistant, and much less likely to break. The body stays just as clear as glass, letting you watch the color of the tea as it steeps, and the spout is shaped to pour cleanly without dripping.
Depending on the strainer you choose, tea leaves are held back by a built-in resin strainer, a clip-on mesh, a durable polyester mesh, or a fine 18-8 stainless steel mesh, each designed to resist clogging so the leaves can move and unfurl freely inside the pot.
Akebono Sangyo, based in Tsubame, Niigata Prefecture, plans and manufactures plastic kitchenware, including popular microwave cooking tools, with a focus on in-house quality and safety control. All parts are made in Japan.
This teapot is offered in three sizes, in a straight spout or side handle kyusu style, and with a choice of four strainer types.
