This colander and bowl set from Akebono Sangyo, based in Tsubame, Niigata, uses a new design that drains water quickly just by tilting the bowl, since the colander itself stays in place. There is no need to lift the colander out, so rinsing rice, draining salad, or draining noodles can all be done quickly with one hand, and spinning the colander drains it thoroughly.
The bowl has a maximum inner diameter of about 24 cm (9.4 in) and the colander about 23 cm (9.1 in), with a capacity of 3.2 L (3.4 qt). The set measures about 28 x 26.5 x 13.1 cm (11 x 10.4 x 5.2 in) and weighs about 345 g (12.2 oz / 0.76 lb).
Akebono Sangyo designs and manufactures plastic kitchenware, with microwave cookware as one of its specialties, and is known for in-house quality control. Made in Japan.
