This hexagonal sake cup is part of Akebono Sangyo's Kakki series, made to look like glass while standing up to everyday use. The crisp, faceted shape and clear finish give it a glass-like transparency, but the cup is made of copolyester resin, which is more durable than ordinary plastic, so it will not shatter if dropped.
The resin is rated for use from -20°C to 110°C, and the cup measures about 7.8 x 6.8 x 5.1 cm (3.1 x 2.7 x 2 in), weighs about 62 g (2.2 oz), and holds about 70 ml (2.4 fl oz) to the brim, a compact size suited to sake or shochu.
This cup is available in four colors: Ink Black, Lapis Blue, Pomegranate Red, and Snow White. Made in Japan.
