Akebono Swing Rice Paddle Standing Shamoji Pink PM-913

This rice paddle from Akebono Sangyo, a kitchenware maker based in Tsubame, Niigata, has a playful swing design: set it down and it balances upright instead of tipping over or resting its scoop on the counter. The scoop has a double-embossed texture on both sides, which keeps cooked rice from sticking as you serve it.

The paddle is molded from polypropylene, which is heat resistant to 120 degrees Celsius and cold resistant to minus 20 degrees Celsius, and the base cap holds a stainless steel weight that helps the paddle stand on its own.

Akebono Sangyo designs and manufactures its own plastic kitchen tools in-house, with a particular focus on microwave-safe cookware and other small ideas that solve everyday kitchen annoyances. This paddle is finished in pink and made in Japan.
