This shaper from Akebono Sangyo makes square rice balls that look like the blocks and items of a popular video game. Each finished rice ball is about 3 x 3 cm (1.2 x 1.2 in) and about 25 g (0.9 oz).
The shaper has a double emboss texture, with fine bumps on top of larger ones, so rice does not stick. Add your favorite fillings, wrap with nori or sprinkle with furikake to vary them. You can also use it to shape chocolate flakes or ice for snacks.
It is dishwasher safe and made of polypropylene that is heat resistant to 110°C (230°F) and cold resistant to -20°C (-4°F). Akebono Sangyo is based in Tsubame, Niigata, and this shaper is made in Japan.
