The Commo plate from Hakusan Porcelain is part of a series that won a Good Design Award in 2010, designed to make scooping food easier. A relief pattern on the inside surface reduces the resistance you feel when scooping, and the shape is designed to work well in any kitchen or table setting.
This large plate is finished in a deep blue glaze and has a solid, stable feel. Made in Japan, it measures 25.5 x 25.5 x 3 cm (10 x 10 x 1.2 in) and weighs 750 g (26.5 oz / 1.65 lb).
It suits curry and pasta, and its large, scoop-friendly shape also works well for omelet rice or fried rice.
