This flat rice bowl is part of Hakusan Porcelain's long-running series made in Hasami, Japan. The series was selected for the Good Design Award (G Mark) in 1993 and received the Long Life Design Award in 2004, and it offers more than 100 pattern variations across the inside and outside of the bowl.
Made larger and flatter than a standard rice bowl, this shape stacks neatly for storage and sits comfortably in the hand. Beyond rice, it works well as a small bowl for side dishes and simmered dishes, and it can also double as a dessert or fruit bowl.
This bowl measures 15 x 15 cm (5.9 x 5.9 in) across and 5.5 cm (2.2 in) tall, and weighs 230 g (8.1 oz / 0.51 lb).
