This Model D-15 flat rice bowl is part of Hakusan Porcelain's popular Flat Rice Bowl series, made in Japan as Hasami ware. The series received a Good Design Award (G Mark) selection in 1993 and a Long Life Design Award in 2004, and offers more than 100 pattern variations across the inside and outside of the bowl.
The bowl is made larger and flatter than a typical rice bowl, a shape that also lets the bowls stack neatly in storage. It is easy to hold and works well as a small bowl for side dishes and simmered foods, and it also suits desserts or fruit.
Each bowl measures 15 cm (5.9 in) across and 5.5 cm (2.2 in) in height, and weighs 230 g (8.1 oz).
