This flat rice bowl from Hakusan Porcelain's popular Hira Chawan series is made in Hasami ware, Japan. The series was selected for the Good Design Award (G Mark) in 1993 and received the Long Life Design Award in 2004, and it comes in more than 100 pattern variations across the inside and outside of the bowl.
Shaped larger and flatter than a typical rice bowl, model ST-20 measures 15 x 15 cm (5.91 in) with a height of 5.5 cm (5.9 x 5.9 x 2.2 in) and weighs 230 g (8.1 oz). The flat shape also stacks neatly for storage.
The bowl is comfortable to hold and works well as a small bowl for side dishes and simmered dishes, as well as for dessert or fruit.
