This flat rice bowl is part of Hakusan Porcelain's Flat Rice Bowl series, made in Japan. The design was selected for the Good Design Award (G Mark) in 1993 and received the Long Life Design Award in 2004, and the series offers more than 100 pattern variations across the inside and outside of each bowl.
The bowl is wider and flatter than a typical rice bowl, which lets the bowls stack neatly for storage. It is easy to hold and works well as a small bowl for side dishes and simmered foods, or for dessert and fruit.
Measuring 15 x 15 x 5.5 cm (5.9 x 5.9 x 2.2 in) and weighing 230 g (8.1 oz), this bowl also makes a good gift.
