This flat rice bowl, model C-14, is part of Hakusan Porcelain's long-running Hasami-yaki flat rice bowl series, which offers more than 100 design variations across the inside and outside of the bowl. The series was selected for Japan's Good Design Award (G-mark) in 1993 and won the Long Life Design Award in 2004.
Made larger and flatter than a typical rice bowl, it is easy to hold and stacks neatly for storage. Beyond rice, it also works well as a small bowl for side dishes and simmered dishes, and suits desserts or fruit.
This bowl is made in Japan from Hasami-yaki porcelain.
