The Petra series from Hakusan Porcelain takes its design from the look of natural stone, so each plate shows a slightly different texture depending on the direction it is placed or the angle it is viewed from. The series won a 2020 Good Design Award and is made in the Hasami ware tradition of Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan.
Petra comes in two shapes, a long plate and a round plate, and three colors: white, navy, and a light gray. This Size M plate works well as a side plate or a cake plate, and its flat design means several plates can be stacked without taking up much height, so they are easy to store.
This plate measures about 18 x 15.5 cm (7.1 x 6.1 in) and weighs about 240 g (8.5 oz), and is finished in a light gray.
