This Tomoe shallow bowl from Hakusan Porcelain is the fourth largest of five sizes in this Hasami ware series, which won a Good Design Award in 2000. Made in Japan, it measures 12.5 x 12.5 x 3 cm (4.9 x 4.9 x 1.2 in) and weighs 100 g (3.5 oz / 0.22 lb).
The smooth, gentle form is created by two circles joined together, and the piece has enough depth to pair easily with many kinds of food. It works equally well as a plate or a bowl, so you can use it however suits the dish.
This smaller size is a good match for dessert, sweets, or as a small plate.
