Aluminum naturally forms a thin oxide layer when exposed to air, which protects the metal and helps prevent corrosion. This bowl uses an anodizing process called oxalic acid alumite, which builds up that protective layer further. Compared to standard sulfuric acid anodizing, oxalic acid alumite offers about three times the corrosion resistance and about 1.6 times the wear resistance, so the bowl is built to be used for a long time.
