This is a standard soba dough kneading bowl (konebachi) from Hounen, used for mixing buckwheat flour with water and kneading soba dough.
The bowl is made of phenolic resin. It looks much like a bowl finished in genuine urushi lacquer, and it is made lightweight so it is easy to carry. Both its shape and its quality are well suited to mizumawashi, the step of working water evenly into the flour.
This bowl is made in Japan, and it is offered in two sizes.
