These chopsticks are scattered with fine flecks of gold for a simple, distinctly Japanese look.
Most dishwasher-safe chopsticks on the market are coated with synthetic paint all the way to the tip to prioritize resistance to boiling water, but Hyozaemon's dishwasher-safe line is finished with non-additive lacquer and is recommended for dishwasher use. A proprietary process gives them a smooth, rubbed-lacquer finish that differs from lacquer-dried-tip chopsticks.
The tips are coated with natural lacquer, and Hyozaemon offers re-lacquering and repair so the chopsticks can be used for many years. This pair measures 23.5 cm (9.3 in) in length.
