These Hachishiro travel chopsticks from Hyozaemon are hand-carved from solid yuzu wood using a traditional kezuri bashi shaving technique designed to fit a wide range of hand sizes. Each chopstick measures 23.5 cm (9.3 in) long and gives a comfortable, secure grip.
The design was selected by the Japanese government as an official gift to foreign heads of state at the 34th G8 summit held in Toyako, Hokkaido, in July 2007.
The tips are coated with natural lacquer, and the maker offers relacquering and repair service so the chopsticks can be used for many years. The set includes a carrying case with a choice of two inner lining colors, a chopstick rest, three cleaning wipes, and a paulownia wood storage box. Made in Japan.
