This pair of chopsticks, called Ippan, is notably thick, about 1.5 times the diameter of standard chopsticks, and is popular with people who prefer a chopstick with some heft and weight in hand. This version is made from striped ebony (shima-kokutan) and measures 23.5 cm (9.3 in) long.
The tips are coated with natural lacquer. Hyozaemon offers relacquering and repair service so the chopsticks can stay in use for many years, part of the maker's approach to sustainability (SDGs).
