Kezuri chopsticks are Hyozaemon's signature item, hand-carved one pair at a time by craftsmen in pursuit of the best possible grip and ease of use.
Each pair is finished with 100 percent natural lacquer using the sumi-urushi (wiping lacquer) technique, in which lacquer is applied and wiped away repeatedly so the texture of the wood still comes through, along with a slightly textured feel from the fine particles of the lacquer itself. The beni bokashi treatment adds a vivid red gradient while keeping the carved texture visible, making these chopsticks a good gift as well.
Hyozaemon offers free re-lacquering, so the chopsticks can be used for many years. They should not be used in a dishwasher or dryer. This pair measures 21.5 cm (8.5 in) in length.
