Hyozaemon Kumea Octagonal Chopsticks Large 24cm Medium 22cm

These Kumea octagonal chopsticks from Hyozaemon have an eight-sided shape that feels softer and rounder in the hand than a square pair. The character for eight fans out toward the bottom, so it is considered a lucky shape and octagonal chopsticks are often chosen as a congratulatory gift.

Kumea is an uncommon material for chopsticks, but it has a density and weight similar to ebony or rosewood, with a straight, even grain. This listing is available in two lengths, 24 cm (9.4 in) and 22 cm (8.7 in).

The tip is coated with natural lacquer, and Hyozaemon offers relacquering and repair service so the chopsticks can be used for many years. Made in Japan.
