Kanoh Yasashii Irodori Rice Bowl Ruri Blue x Kurumi Brown

This donburi rice bowl from Kano's Yasashii Iroiro series has a resin surface designed to look like natural wood grain. It is lighter and more resistant to chipping than ceramic, and stays cooler to the touch than ceramic bowls when filled with hot food.

The surface finish uses the Yamanaka lacquer technique, a traditional craft from the Yamanaka Onsen area of Kaga City in Ishikawa Prefecture, giving the bowl a soft, old-fashioned Japanese coloring in Ruri blue and walnut brown.

Sized to rest comfortably in two hands, the bowl also drains well and dries quickly after washing. It is designed to nest and stack with other bowls, so it takes up little room in a cupboard.
