This gold sponge from Kyoto Katsugu is a classic, do-it-all scrubbing tool. The same material is used on both sides, so you do not need to worry about which side is up, and it is thin enough to fold or shape however is easiest to use.
The sponge is wrapped in a net made from a film with metal particles woven in a loop knit, which resists tearing and gives it strong scouring power. Do not use it together with bleach or cleanser. Once the surface film turns clear, the metal particles are gone and the scouring power drops, so replace it with a new one at that point.
It measures 14 x 8.8 x 1.8 cm (5.5 x 3.5 x 0.7 in).
