This is a classic, do-it-all dish sponge from Kyoto Katsugu. Both sides are made of the same material, so you can pick it up and use either side without worrying about which one is front or back, and being thin, 1.8 cm (0.7 in), it also folds easily into whatever shape is comfortable for washing.
The net covering the sponge is a film with metal particles woven into it in a loop pattern, giving it strong scrubbing power that resists tearing. Do not use it together with bleach or abrasive cleansers, and once the surface film turns clear and the metal particles are gone, replace it with a new one.
