This is the body for an Okumura Chinese-style bamboo steamer (chuka seiro), used for layering and steaming food in traditional Chinese cooking. This listing is for the body only, sold as one piece per order.
It is made from Japanese cedar (sugi) and bamboo. As a natural material product, the wood grain and surface marks vary somewhat from piece to piece. During the first uses, the steaming water may take on a light brown tint from the wood's natural tannins; this is not harmful and fades with continued use.
After steaming, dry the body thoroughly before storing it, since leftover moisture can lead to mold.
