This is the 21 cm (8.3 in) bamboo and sugi cedar steamer body, sold separately as a single piece without the lid. It is designed for steaming a wide variety of foods, a style that has become popular for simple one plate meals.
Since it is made from natural wood and bamboo, the grain pattern and any small marks can vary from piece to piece. The first few times you use it, the water may turn slightly brown from the natural tannins in the wood; this is harmless and will stop appearing with continued use.
After each use, dry the steamer thoroughly, since leaving it damp can lead to mold.
