Sanyo Sangyo CAFEC Cone Coffee Filters

These cone shaped paper filters are made for pour over drip brewing. They are made of virgin pulp paper rather than recycled paper pulp, with a crepe pattern pressed into both sides so the coffee pours through smoothly and comes out clear. A folded edge, or ear, makes the filter easy to open.

The double sided crepe finish helps the coffee extract evenly, drawing out body and aroma along with the balance of acidity, bitterness, and sweetness without disrupting it. For each cup, use about 10 to 12 g (0.4 oz) of coffee grounds. Pour hot water in a spiral from the center outward, in one small circle and then one larger circle, then pause to let the coffee bloom. Once the surface settles, continue pouring in a gradually widening spiral for three to four more rotations.

These filters are made in Japan by Sanyo Sangyo under the CAFEC brand, which is sold in Japan and in more than 80 countries overseas, mainly for coffee brewing equipment.
