This mini ohitsu from Shimizu Mokuzai is a traditional Japanese wooden container for cooked rice, made of sawara cypress grown in the Kiso region.
It is the smallest size in the range, holding about 1 go, or 1 Japanese rice cup, which is about one serving. At 14.5 cm (5.7 in) across, it is a compact size for a single diner.
The wood is left plain with no coating. Made in Japan.
