Shimizu Mokuzai Ohitsu Sawara Wood Rice Container with Flat Lid 18cm 3 Cups

This ohitsu from Shimizu Mokuzai is a traditional Japanese wooden container for cooked rice with a flat lid that rests on top (nosebuta style). It is made of sawara cypress grown in the Kiso region and held together with copper hoops.

The 18 cm (7.1 in) size, known as 6 sun in Japan, holds about 3 go, or 3 Japanese rice cups. It is well sized for a small household of 2 to 4 people.

The wood is left plain with no coating. Made in Japan.
