Shimizu Mokuzai Sushi Rice Mixing Tub (Hangiri) with Lid 27cm Copper Hoops

We offer this sushi rice mixing tub, known as a hangiri, handai or meshikiri, made by Shimizu Mokuzai from Kiso sawara cypress and bound with copper hoops. It comes as a set with a matching sawara lid.

This is the traditional 9 sun tub at 27 cm (10.6 in), sized for 2 to 3 people and a good fit for a pair sharing homemade sushi. With the lid on, it measures about 27.8 cm (10.9 in) in outer diameter and about 12.8 cm (5 in) in height.

The wood is left plain with no coating. Made in Japan.
