Suwada Chestnut Peeler Shears Kuri Kuri Bozu

The Kuri Kuri Bozu Chestnut Peeler Shears are scissors designed to peel the hard outer shell and bitter inner skin from chestnuts, something that can be difficult and even unsafe to do with a kitchen knife. The serrated edge bites into the chestnut shell, and squeezing the handles lets the sharp cutting edge peel both the shell and the skin together, almost like peeling an apple. This cutting mechanism is a Suwada original design.

The shears measure about 18.4 x 4.8 x 2 cm (7.2 x 1.9 x 0.8 in) and weigh about 138 g (4.9 oz). The body is elastomer resin over chrome-plated steel, with a steel blade. They are made in Japan.
