This tumbler belongs to the Urushimaro series, which brings together two Japanese craft traditions: the metal fabrication of Tsubame, Niigata Prefecture, and the Yamanaka-nuri lacquerware of Kaga, Ishikawa Prefecture. The double wall 18-8 stainless steel body is finished by hand with genuine urushi lacquer, so every piece has its own one of a kind texture and pattern.
Over time the urushi lacquer finish is said to settle into a deeper color as it is used, so the tumbler continues to change and develop its own character the longer it stays in your kitchen.
It carries the Made in Tsubame mark, confirming it was produced in Tsubame, Niigata Prefecture, a region known for generations of metalware craftsmanship.
This tumbler is offered in two shapes, Straight and Rock, and in four hand-applied lacquer colors: Dawn Moon, Purple Shadow, Oboro Red, and Oboro Black.
