Tanabe Kanagu Nitrided Iron Griddle Plate with Wooden Base 5724

This griddle plate from Tanabe Kanagu is made of nitrided iron, a heat treatment that infuses nitrogen into the iron to strengthen its surface. Nitrided iron resists warping, scratching, rust, and sticking, and because the iron itself is transformed rather than coated, the surface will not flake off with use. Once the plate has been through an initial oil seasoning, it is ready for regular use.

Sized for two to three people, it is good for family teppan-style cooking at the table, including steak. It comes with a wooden base made of laminated wood with a urethane finish, so hot food can be served straight from the stove. The plate works on all heat sources, including induction (IH).

It measures about 31.5 x 19 x 4.5 cm (12.4 x 7.5 x 1.8 in) and weighs about 1.7 kg (3.8 lb).
