This double-prong skewer is designed to grill meat evenly. Unlike a pointed fish skewer, its tip is flattened rather than sharp.

A sliding guard on the skewer lets you push even soft foods such as liver onto the two prongs easily, and the double prongs make it simple to turn food on the grill so it cooks evenly. Slide the guard toward the tip to remove food without getting your hands dirty, or take the guard off to use the skewer for fish.
