This small see-through otoshibuta (drop lid) from the Kitchen Assist series fits pots 16 cm (6.3 in) in diameter and larger. Because it is clear, you can check on your ingredients while they simmer, and it helps keep food from breaking apart.
The lid leaves small gaps that let fishy or gamey odors from meat and fish escape. Its textured surface helps remove scum, which can cause unpleasant flavors.
It is heat resistant to 180°C (356°F). A small hook lets you pick it up easily when placing it in or lifting it out of the pot. Made in Japan.
