This ceramic dish from Wahei Freiz lets you create grilled, seared style dishes in the microwave or oven without using an open flame. A heat-generating glaze on the surface reacts with microwave energy, so the dish itself heats up and cooks food evenly in a short time.
Foods with natural fat can develop a nicely browned surface as they cook. Once cooking is finished, the dish can go straight to the table; its muted, understated look sets off the color of the food, and the rim is shaped so it is easy to hold even while wearing oven mitts.
Some versions include a ceramic lid, which helps keep the inside of the microwave or oven cleaner by reducing oil splatter and lingering odors during cooking.
This dish is microwave safe and made in China. Choose from two sizes, with or without a lid.
