This diatomite bread steamer is designed to be soaked in water and baked alongside bread in the oven. As it heats, it releases steam that surrounds the loaf, helping the crust turn out crisp while the inside stays soft and fluffy.

Made from diatomite, the steamer measures about 6.8 x 6.8 x 3.8 cm (2.7 x 2.7 x 1.5 in) and weighs about 60 g (2.1 oz). It contains no asbestos.

To use, simply soak the piece in water before placing it in the oven together with your melon pan or other bread.
