Akebono Kome Colle Rice Washer

This rice-washing tool is part of Akebono Sangyo's Come Colle collection of rice-related kitchen accessories. It lets you wash rice without wetting your hands, which is useful for anyone concerned about dry or chapped skin, or anyone with a manicure.

The diamond-mesh pattern is designed to recreate the effect of washing rice by hand. It stands on its own and can also be hung for storage, and it disassembles into separate pieces for thorough, hygienic washing.

Akebono Sangyo has made kitchenware in Tsubame, Niigata since 1952 and produces many of its own molds in-house, which lets it develop new kitchen tool ideas quickly. The rice washer measures 15.8 x 5.3 x 5.3 cm (6.2 x 2.1 x 2.1 in) and weighs about 46 g (1.6 oz / 0.10 lb).
