This cast iron ball is a Nambu Tekki ironware piece made in collaboration with Jugoban Dango Cafe. Simply add it to a pot or kettle of water and bring it to a boil, and iron dissolves into the water, making it an easy way to supplement iron in your diet. It is also useful for bringing out the color in Japanese pickles and adding a glossy shine to black beans when boiled.

The iron ball measures about 2 cm (0.8 in) in diameter and 8 cm (3.1 in) in length, and weighs 179 g (6.3 oz). It is made in Japan.
