Kataoka Water Sharp III Knife Sharpener

The Water Sharp III is a knife sharpener with a rotating whetstone that handles coarse sharpening, medium sharpening, and finishing in a single tool. It is used with water: pour water into the sharpening section, insert the knife vertically into the sharpening groove, and move it back and forth about 7 to 8 times. Because the whetstone sits at an angle to the groove, it sharpens efficiently. The handle is shaped to fit the hand comfortably, and it is designed so the blade does not touch your hand while you sharpen, for added safety.

It measures about 21 x 5.5 x 3.6 cm (8.3 x 2.2 x 1.4 in) and weighs about 120 g (4.2 oz). The body is ABS resin, with alumina ceramic whetstones for medium and finishing sharpening and a diamond steel whetstone for coarse sharpening. It is made in Japan.
