This cutting board is made from hinoki cypress harvested in the Ura-Kiso region, cut using only straight-grain (masame) wood, which helps resist warping. Its square shape allows for more flexible handling than many traditional board shapes, making it easier to work in smaller spaces. At about 2.5 cm (1 in) thick, the board's natural softness is gentle on knife blades and gives a comfortable feel as you cut.
It measures 23 x 23 x 2.5 cm (9.1 x 9.1 x 1 in) and weighs about 620 g (21.9 oz / 1.37 lb). Made in Japan from Kiso hinoki.
