Shimomura Ajiwai Shokubo ECO Julienne Peeler (Kinpira) AEC-603

The Ajiwai Shokubo ECO Julienne Peeler (Kinpira) from Shimomura Kogyo makes quick work of cutting burdock root and carrot into thin julienne strips. A specialized blade that combines a comb-tooth edge with a flat edge scores the vegetable and slices it in one motion, and the handle is shaped to fit comfortably in the hand for a secure grip.

This peeler belongs to the Ajiwai Shokubo ECO series, which blends plant-based biomass material into its resin parts. The biomass plastic is made from molasses left over after sugar is extracted from sugarcane, replacing some of the fossil-fuel-based plastic normally used and helping reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

The peeler is dishwasher safe. It measures 14 x 7.8 x 1.5 cm (5.5 x 3.1 x 0.6 in) and weighs 35 g (1.2 oz).
