Takagi Metal Nambu Iron Eggplant for Nukazuke Pickling NZ-TN

This cast iron piece from Takagi Kinzoku is made using the Nanbu ironware tradition and is meant to be placed directly into a nukazuke (rice bran pickle) bed. Left in the bran mixture, it helps supplement iron and is also used to help bring out color in pickled vegetables.

At 7 x 4.8 x 2.5 cm (2.8 x 1.9 x 1 in) and 100 g (3.5 oz), it is compact enough to leave buried in the bran bed between batches. Made in Japan.
