This diatomite bread steamer is designed to be soaked in water and baked alongside bread in the oven. As it heats, it releases steam that surrounds the loaf, helping the crust turn out crisp while the inside stays soft and fluffy.

Shaped for French bread, the steamer measures about 9.2 x 3.7 x 3.5 cm (3.6 x 1.5 x 1.4 in) and weighs about 50 g (1.8 oz). It contains no asbestos.
