This set includes two lowball-style tumblers from the Urushimaro series, one in Dawn Moon and one in Purple Shadow, each combining the metal fabrication tradition of Tsubame, Niigata Prefecture with the Yamanaka-nuri lacquerware of Kaga, Ishikawa Prefecture. Every double-wall 18-8 stainless steel tumbler is finished by hand with genuine urushi lacquer, and the visible brushstrokes give each piece a bold, one-of-a-kind pattern.
Over time the urushi lacquer finish is said to settle into a deeper color as it is used, so each tumbler continues to change and develop its own character.
Each tumbler holds 250 ml (8.5 fl oz) and weighs about 149 g (5.3 oz). Both carry the Made in Tsubame mark, confirming they were produced in Tsubame, Niigata Prefecture.
