This lowball-style tumbler is part of the Urushimaro series, which brings together two Japanese craft traditions: the metal fabrication of Tsubame, Niigata Prefecture, and the Yamanaka-nuri lacquerware of Kaga, Ishikawa Prefecture. The double-wall 18-8 stainless steel body is finished by hand with genuine urushi lacquer, and the visible brushstrokes give this Purple Shadow tumbler a bold, one-of-a-kind pattern.
Over time the urushi lacquer finish is said to settle into a deeper color as it is used, so the tumbler continues to change and develop its own character.
This tumbler holds 250 ml (8.5 fl oz) and weighs about 149 g (5.3 oz). It carries the Made in Tsubame mark, confirming it was produced in Tsubame, Niigata Prefecture.
