The Yachiyo Kiriko cut-glass tradition comes from the Yachiyo kilns in the old Shimofusa region, pairing traditional technique with a modern sensibility. This tokkuri sake flask is cut in a tobikame (flying tortoiseshell) pattern and finished in a deep sumi (ink-black) color, with gold leaf showing through the cut facets.
It is a double-walled design built to keep sake chilled without diluting it. Fill the outer cut-glass vessel with ice, then pour chilled sake into the inner flask to keep it cold as you drink.
Made of crystal glass, it measures 16.2 x 9.7 x 9.7 cm (6.4 x 3.8 x 3.8 in), holds 270 ml (9.1 fl oz), and weighs 605 g (21.3 oz). It comes in a dedicated wooden presentation box. As each piece is handmade, slight differences in shape, size, weight, capacity, and color blending can occur. Made in Japan.
