These kitchen scissors are part of Shimomura Kogyo's Ajiwai Shokubo ECO series, designed with the future of the natural environment in mind. The resin handle blends in plant-based biomass plastic made from molasses, a byproduct left over after sugar is extracted from sugarcane, replacing some petroleum-based plastic and helping reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

A curved blade works together with a straight serrated blade to grip food firmly so it will not slip while you cut. The handle is lightweight and shaped for a comfortable, easy grip, and a built-in opener on the scissors doubles as a can lid opener. The scissors come apart for cleaning, so you can wash every part thoroughly, and they are dishwasher safe.

They measure 20.3 x 7.7 x 1.2 cm (8 x 3 x 0.5 in) and weigh about 87 g (3.1 oz / 0.19 lb). Made in Japan.
