This grater comes from Shimomura Kogyo's Ajiwai Shokubo ECO series, a line built around the future of the natural environment. The resin body blends in plant-based biomass plastic made from molasses, a byproduct left over after sugar is extracted from sugarcane, so it replaces some petroleum-based plastic and helps reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

Grate lengthwise for a coarser texture or in a circular motion for a finer one, so you can enjoy two different textures from the same grater. The sharp blade grates with light pressure and resists clogging, so the flavor and taste of the food are not lost. It is dishwasher safe.

It measures 28.3 x 9.9 x 1.8 cm (11.1 x 3.9 x 0.7 in) and weighs about 100 g (3.5 oz / 0.22 lb). Made in Japan.
